Abstract
This research aimed to ascertain if raw camel milk ingestion via oral route; may be hepatotoxic; marked by hyper release of some hepatic enzymes or otherwise. The study measured levels of some liver enzymes; that usually become altered due to liver cells injury. Sustained hypertension consequent L-NAME chronic use; may expose recipient hepatic cells to possible injury. Hypertension was induced by L-NAME (50 mgkg-1body weight/day) oral administration to 5 groups (each with 5 rats) and it was verified by periodic blood pressure measurement over 4 weeks. Three control groups used were positive that received amlodipine drug (10 mgkg-1 b.w/day) and negative; devoid of any received intervention (only L-NAME; 50mgkg-1 b.w/day, p.o) and normal control (given only distilled water). Three raw camel milk (CM) treatment groups fragmented as CM1 (100mgkg-1b.w./day), CM3 (300mgkg-1b.w./day) and CM5 (500mgkg-1b.w./day) were administered concurrently with L-NAME (50 mgkg-1b.w.) during treatment time. Results showed statistically significant reduced transaminases (ALT, AST) and alkaline phosphatase values; for p-value (1-way test chi square approximation or if p is <0.0001) when contrasted to their peers in negative control. But for Total bilirubin, CM treatment value is similar to both positive and normal controls however, in albumin; ALB positive control was higher than test values. The obtained results portrayed better liver indices from CM treatment compared to positive control and they were at pari passu with normal controls. In conclusion, different CM treatment doses appeared to offer hepatoprotective activity against induced-hypertensive state which may damage rats’ liver.

Key words: Hypertensive, liver cells damage, L-NAME, raw camel milk
